Our inaugural Research Day on April 10, 2018, brought a full and enthusiastic crowd to Penn's Smilow Center for Translational Research. First up were snapshots of our latest innovations, shared by our three division leaders. Next we introduced our popular flash talk segment, featuring our students and trainees. The afternoon concluded with "Mobile Health Innovations for Research, Prevention and Clinical Care," the keynote by Michael V. McConnell, MD, MSEE. See the roundup and view video here.

Our Second Annual DBEI & CCEB Research Day on March 21, 2019, attracted a large audience to Penn’s Biomedical Research Building. It featured talks by Karen Glanz, PhD, MPH, Mingyao Li, PhD, and Dokyoon Kim, PhD; our student/trainee flash talks; and DBEI 2017-18 Distinguished Faculty talks by Alexis Ogdie-Beatty, MD, MSCE, and Alisa Stephens-Shields, PhD; Russell T. Shinohara, PhD; and Douglas Wiebe, PhD. "Leveraging Informatics to Enable Evidence-Generating Medicine and Create Learning Health Systems," the keynote by Peter J. About Us

To understand health and disease today, we need new thinking and novel science —the kind  we create when multiple disciplines work together from the ground up. That is why this department has put forward a bold vision in population-health science: a single academic home for biostatistics, epidemiology and informatics.
