2022 Research Day Recap

2022 Research Day Recap

Thanks to all who joined us on April 27 as we showed how our research is making a difference! This "hybrid" Research Day was a joint project of the DBEI, the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and the Penn Institute for Bioinformatics.

Our opening session featured two DBEI Distinguished Faculty talks. View video of Vin Lo Re III, MD, MSCE; and Graciela Gonzalez Hernandez, MS, PhD, here.

Next came 10 curated flash talks by our trainees. Find them with the   label in our Research Day gallery.

Closing out our morning session were three featured faculty talks, followed by a panel discussion with moderator Jing Huang, PhD. View talks here by Yong Chen, PhD; Joost Wagenaar, PhD; and Meghan Lane-Fall, MD, MSHP, FCCM.

The day culminated with "Creating Space for AI in Healthcare: Learning from Recent History," our keynote by Kevin Johnson, MD, MS, FAAP, FAMIA, FACMI. Artificial intelligence has transformed many high-profile industries. How can we see similar impact in medicine? View Dr. Johnson's full talk.

Our entire research gallery remains open to the public. View video and more from our rising experts here!

About Us

To understand health and disease today, we need new thinking and novel science —the kind  we create when multiple disciplines work together from the ground up. That is why this department has put forward a bold vision in population-health science: a single academic home for biostatistics, epidemiology and informatics.
