The DBEI distinctively brings together expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology and informatics, to advance population health. Members of the biostatistics faculty lead research that develops novel statistical-methods approaches to meet complex data challenges across many domains. They design and conduct national, multi-center clinical trials, and they contribute as team scientists to biomedical, behavioral, clinical and translational research across many disciplines. Our epidemiology faculty members study a broad array of clinical and population-health issues. They move innovative findings from smaller-scale to larger clinical studies, including clinical trials and implementation studies. Our informatics faculty members develop new methodology in artificial intelligence, natural-language processing and machine learning. These methods make possible novel analyses of clinical data from electronic-health records and of data from population-based studies of common diseases, such as asthma and cancer.
We invite you to explore some of our faculty’s publications here.

About Us
To understand health and disease today, we need new thinking and novel science —the kind we create when multiple disciplines work together from the ground up. That is why this department has put forward a bold vision in population-health science: a single academic home for biostatistics, epidemiology and informatics.
